I'm a visual thinker so my references always have been on that
side of the creative spectrum. Sometimes I really wonder if I found another
interest rather than the visual appreciation in the dance.
I know more architects and more fashion designers than dancers or choreographers.
Sometime ago searching information for I don't remember
what I reached the website of a british fashion designer, Aitor
Throup. More than his designs I found really interesting the way he develops his creative process and specifically how he is able to manage his time despite the timing of the industry.
Aitor throup is a multidisciplinar platform that explore
how different techniques can be apply to the research and design of new fashion
objects. This translates in the embrace of a new way of understand the process and breaks the pressure and the need of the fashion industry for present
a show/collection at least twice a year. Instead his work present a serie of patterns, prototypes and sculptural tests besides the finished objects, which gives relevance to every step in the creative process.
He shows us his
studio not only as the physical space which houses the multiple platforms, it
also is a creative agency which aims to give support to visual communication
projects and collaborations with other design’s fields. This is what I found the most interesting, because I see it as an opportunity to work in a space were
the discipline is secondary to the object of research, allowing a mixture of
all what I love: fashion, design, architecture, dance.
